A THING THAT A REAL TEACHER IS MOST HAPPY WITH

Br. Azrin and Dr Fadzila Azni (middle) listening to questions
from the participants of the IRTI Staff Seminar

To a teacher, one of the most happiest thing in his life is to see how his students excel with success in their endeavours. So am I when I saw how Dr Fadzila Azni Ahmad and Br. Ahmad Azrin Adnan performed confidently with intellectual vigorousity in their presentation at IRTI Staff Seminar at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 12 May the other day. Both of them presented the papers well and concise, and answered questions professionally with full of confidence and coolness.

Dr Fadzila Azni Ahmad presented a paper on Fundamentals of Islamic Management Methods, while Br. Ahmad Azrin Adnan on Theoretical Framework of Islamic Consumer Behaviour: Its State and Justifications. The seminar was chaired by IRTI Director General Professor Dr Bambang P. Brodjonegoro himself, and attended by the prominent Islamic economist and IRTI Research Advisor Dr Muhammad Umer Chapra, IRTI Manager of the Training Division and Acting Manager of the Research Division Dr Osman Babikir, and other distinguished IRTI scholars and professionals.

The performance of both Dr Fadzila Azni and Br. Azrin at the seminar reminds me that knowledge and mind of most of great Muslim scholars were unceasedly flow to later generations and persistently sustained till our times because of the dissemination done by their brilliant students. I am hopeful, and indeed confident that in ISDEV, there are many more Dr Fadzila Azni Ahmad and Br. Ahmad Azrin Adnan, now and to come, from Malaysia and outside Malaysia, to continously develop and expand the mind of ISDEV to all corners of the world, InshaAllah.

A teacher who is jealous of the accomplishment of his students therefore is not a real teacher, for he is actually killing the development and dissemination of his own knowledge and mind, let alone if he is competing with his students for being afraid of being overtaken by them. This would not happen in ISDEV, InshaAllah. I always told Br. Ahmad Azrin Adnan that he should be more than me, everytime when he said he wants to be like me.
